My name is Jen. Violet was my grandmother. On Fridays she would have her hair set at a beauty parlor in Jersey City. She would fly on an airplane twice a year, once in winter and once in summer, to visit us in California. She always had a pack of Lifesavers in her pocketbook. She missed my grandfather everyday. She made jelly tarts, coleslaw, pierogies and rice pudding. She sucked the yolks off of her eggs, slurped her tea and liked brandy at the end of the day. And, she saved everything.

This was her life. Routine. Set. Anything but ordinary. And she was OK with that. So this is my blog. It’s not just about one thing or the other. It’s about all of it, the everyday. It’s about the things I like. And about people unnoticed. Who you wouldn’t of known existed otherwise. Those roaming Violets of the world. The ones that maybe never made it big. But had the passion to do so.

I would love to hear from you.

  1. Jen! this is an awesome “about me” …straight up! I’ve so many times thought about starting a blog…. ssoo many times I’ve started blogs – some how I’ve not wrangled one yet into a home, something I come back to, something I make cozy…. There just always seems to be a striking lack…of yum!- Know what I mean? Anyway, I’m going to enjoy stopping in your’s for tea & a read!!

    • Goodness, so heres the thing, i thought you were a different Jen! I’m sorry, I feel like a stalker now!- A bad stalker though, seeing as it took me a few minutes to discover I’d been talking to a cool, but different person! In any case, I love your blog! πŸ˜‰

      • HA! ha! I knew who you were right away from your mom. Thanks for visiting – you are not a stalker at all.
