My name is Jen. Violet was my grandmother. On Fridays she would have her hair set at a beauty parlor in Jersey City. She would fly on an airplane twice a year, once in winter and once in summer, to visit us in California. She always had a pack of Lifesavers in her pocketbook. She missed my grandfather everyday. She made jelly tarts, coleslaw, pierogies and rice pudding. She sucked the yolks off of her eggs, slurped her tea and liked brandy at the end of the day. And, she saved everything.
This was her life. Routine. Set. Anything but ordinary. And she was OK with that. So this is my blog. It’s not just about one thing or the other. It’s about all of it, the everyday. It’s about the things I like. And about people unnoticed. Who you wouldn’t of known existed otherwise. Those roaming Violets of the world. The ones that maybe never made it big. But had the passion to do so.
I would love to hear from you.
